Skincare Bag Essentials
Juicing up our skincare bags can be exhilarating. It's personal, fun, and helps us follow healthy skin care habits. We can easily add or subtract around our mainstays. I'm excited to share some of my favorites things which, in total, are an outstanding balance of skin wellness and the bank.
Konjac Sponge
After many years, I've finally discovered the importance of cleansing accurately. This mighty little item is still relatively new to some countries, but it has been around for centuries. The plant form was used in Chinese medicine before Japanese farmers invented the Konjac sponge to gently yet, thoroughly wash their babies.
There are many to choose from, but I like this brand: My Konjac Sponge. The sponges are vegan, cruelty-free, 100% bio-degradable, and compostable! They're made with pure konjac root in Jeju Island, South Korea.
Beware! Other sponges on the market are jumping in deceptively, making them with oil-based plastics, such as polyester and polyurethane.
Please read the directions to use one properly and benefit greatly. It usually arrives in solid form, so don't be alarmed. Soak it for about one minute, and it will be soft, puffy, and ready to go. I made the mistake of using a cleanser in my sponge, making it impossible to rinse out.
The first thing is to wash the face with a cleanser. Then, use the sponge separately. In the morning, you can use the sponge solo. Make sure to not leave it in the shower after use but in an environment to dry completely. All these tips will help prevent bacteria growth and make your sponge last a bit longer. If you use it daily, make sure to replace it after four weeks tops!
Spa Headband
It's just logical. I don't know why I waited so long. After the constant unraveling of my bath towel turban, I gave up. A headband is necessary when doing your skin routine outside of the shower. Practicing good hair habits is a priority in personal care, too.
Firstly, wrapping a towel on your head causes breakage, all those little flyaways around your face, the guys sticking up on your head—blame it on the towel! Plus, it stretches your facial skin. We never want to do that.
Anyways, the headband doesn't have to be fancy. I use generic ones by APPEARUS for $6.99.
Skin serum is a crucial component in a solid skin care routine. I recommend using any non-toxic, high-quality one, but RxESCUESKIN serum is at the top tier. The company has exclusive rights on MDFc19, a bone marrow compound obtained from healthy adult donors between 20-25 years old. The Adult MSCs (Mesenchymal Stem Cells) are used to create this magnificent serum that promotes the skin's natural healing.
Their commitment to animal welfare goes further than ensuring that the serum is cruelty-free.
The RxESCUESKIN team actively participates in our local communities, donating valuable time and considerable funds to deserving shelters and animal rights organizations. Now, that's powerful.
Gua Sha Stone
This facial massage tool has endless benefits. I use it specifically to destress and loosen the muscles in my face. After a full day with my precious, energetic children, I need to relieve some muscle tension from all the expressions made during the day. The Gracious Om 3-Piece Gua Sha Kit by Anthropologie is fairly priced for amazing quality.
You might see claims that the stone can diminish fine lines and wrinkles. It doesn't erase anything, but with continuous use, it has helped lessened their appearance for me. Anytime someone encourages blood circulation with a facial massage, it, in turn, promotes collagen production. Collagen is essential in keeping our skin healthy.
Why is blood circulation good for our faces? For our faces, it removes toxins, increases oxygen, stimulates healthy cell growth, and reduces puffiness. Blood carries oxygen, which automatically gives us a healthier look. It's like a face workout.
Jade Roller
While we're on stones, I always top off my facial massage with a jade roller. It's incredible. I absolutely love mine. If you missed RxESCUESKIN's article on jade rollers, from its history to benefits, you can read it here.
"Findings from the long-term study suggested that using a roller improved blood flow response, or the so-called vasodilatory response, to heat stimulation. One explanation for this could be that endothelial cells in the massaged area produce more nitric oxide, which is known to be a potent vasodilator," written in Tokyo Tech News.
Nose Blotting Papers
It sounds so last century to use blotting papers, but these simple small pieces of paper are incredible! Why not just use a tissue or handkerchief? Blotting papers pull some excess oil out without removing your makeup. It's kind of magical. I get fascinated when I use them. After using one side, you can flip it over and use it again! Mind blown.
You can read all about skin care for the nose in one of our previous articles called Be Nosy. I use TATCHA sheets. They're completely natural, using Abaca leaf's natural oil-absorbing powers.
Eye Mask
We should call them almighty de-puffers. They feel so good underneath the constantly, overstimulated eyes. Our eyes and brains are speaking to each other throughout the day, sharing information. Therefore, our eyes are moving nonstop.
If you've ever had your makeup done professionally, the artist sometimes places something similar to a mask underneath the eyes to keep your eyes still. I never realized that my eyes moved so much until that one time. Relaxing with an eye mask after a long day of moving my eyeballs is a great move. The Bio Cellulose Eye Mask can be found at Whole Foods for only $2.99.
Relish your personal skin care journey! I enjoyed sharing some of my favorite additions with you! Whatever you add to or subtract from your skin wellness collection, have fun choosing which items are specific to your needs.
