Stay Hydrated All Day, Every Day
Being hydrated is a one of the healthiest obsessions. Everything works better when our bodies aren’t crying for more hydration. We flow like water. But water isn’t the only way to stay hydrated. Mathematics can help find our water balance. Learning what to eliminate, reduce, and add can take our bodies to a higher plane.
Of course, our skin benefits, but did you know it’s great for joint health and the immune system? Yes! We’re going to dive into how and why to stay hydrated all day, every single day.More active, more hydration.
We can’t go by the old rule of drinking eight glasses of water a day, especially in hot temperatures. If you exercise, you will need to replenish with more hydration. Our bodies need to hydrate more from physical activity to recover. It feeds our muscles and organs. The heart works overtime if not hydrated enough and can cause serious complications.Lower salt and fried foods.
It’s well known that salt makes us thirsty; and fried foods usually has a lot of it. Try eating at home more versus out. Restaurant food is often extremely high in sodium, whether for taste or preservation. Try to make a nice homemade meal as much as possible. You will feel a difference.Eat more raw foods.
Fruits and vegetables, especially those juicy ones like celery, cucumber, tomato, watermelon, peach, etc. The juicer, the better! Making water with cucumber, celery, and fruits is a hydrating treat. Replacing frozen fruit with ice is also delicious.Electrolytes.
There are minerals that we must have for our bodies to function properly, especially for hydration. The five core electrolytes are potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, and sodium. We’re depleted of them while doing vigorous activities. So, it’s always crucial to refill and regenerate the big five.
Magnesium is described, according to a study published in the National Library of Medicine:
“In the dissolved state, magnesium binds hydration water tighter than calcium, potassium and sodium. Thus, the hydrated magnesium cation is hard to dehydrate. Its radius is ∼400 times larger than its dehydrated radius.”
Basically, we can stay hydrated longer if we have adequate levels of magnesium, and electrolytes. They can be obtained through supplements, foods, and drinks. Just try to watch the sugar amounts and ingredients in sports drinks. Other factors can affect our hydration levels, such as sleep deprivation, stress, malnutrition, and drinking alcohol. We need to stay hydrated all day, every day. We hope you’re always at your optimum.Tip:
If you drink caffeine, make sure to drink a glass or two before your cup of Joe or espresso. The caffeine will work for you. When you're dehydrated, caffeine can have an opposite affect because the heart is working hard to keep you going.Aside from hydrating, a healthy skin care routine is key.
