Mirror Effect
Botox and filler usage has climbed in the past year. Psychologists believe with many of us still working from home; we tend to examine our faces more often. It has even been coined as the Zoom effect by experts. We are exposed to our reflection more frequently than ever.
This constant self-analyzation of our appearances can have good or bad results. Some people have come to accept whatever is visible, and others have turned to a more rigorous self-care routine. At the same time, some have increased their facial filler frequency. Anti-aging in skincare has gone through the roof over the past year and a half. So, maybe there's some truth in the mirror effect.
Sunscreen
As traveling increased over the summer, the price of sunscreen has, too. Last year, the sunscreen market saw a decline due to lower outdoor activities and travel. As regulations eased, the cost of sunscreens steadily increased. One of my favorites went from $9.99 to $14.99 by July!
Inflation is also linked to increased knowledge of UV damage, and people are more aware by taking the proper steps to protect themselves. Adding on, people are increasingly attracted to organic sunscreen ingredients. Let's not forget after-sun care. No matter how much sunscreen we apply, we will still get skin damage from the sun and the environment. Try our powerful anti-aging RxESCUESKIN serum that heals the skin on a cellular level, penetrating deeper where it counts.
FDA & Hand Sanitizer Policy
The DO NOT USE hand sanitizer list has grown since the start of 2020, and you can review it on the FDA's website. They've issued several warning letters to various companies this year citing contamination to less than full alcohol content and much more.
"Hand sanitizers manufactured before or on December 31, 2021, and produced under the temporary guidances can no longer be sold or distributed by manufacturers after March 31, 2022," the FDA stated in October 2020.
From where ingredients are sourced is what truly makes a product clean. Every component should have a purposeful role, and a brand should always be transparent about each one. RxESCUESKIN was developed at the highly respected Scharp Lacy Research Institute, where scientists extensively research with the highest standards possible.
Before applying your favorite skin care, do you know its ingredient list and the source of those ingredients? How transparent are your favorite brands? The FDA's regulations on skincare have been pretty light, but as California's beauty law approaches, beauty brands are cleaning up their acts.
The fight for awareness of the possible effects of toxic components is intense. On August 12, 2020, California passed the California Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act in hopes that other states will, too.
The act will hold beauty companies to a higher standard of ingredients, including taking out more than just the dirty dozen. The list of toxic ingredients is long!
Hair Care
Since the start of the pandemic, consumers have stepped up their at-home haircare by using hair masks, scalp treatments, and hair loss supplements. The hair industry, like skincare, has also seen an uptick of cleaner products, from formaldehyde-free hair dyes to toxic-free shampoos and conditioners. We will be witnessing a boom on clean hair dyes in the coming years as awareness grows on research showing the damaging effects of chemical hair dye, from hair loss to hormonal disruptors.
Dolphin Skin
Last but certainly not least, the ongoing beauty trend that started this summer is dolphin skin. Think of the glass skin trend over the past few years. This trend is an extension of it. People, including celebrities Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner, are going crazy to get the sheeny, shiny, fresh out of water look by layering their skincare and makeup—like a dolphin.
The key is hydration. If your skin is dehydrated, no amount of makeup will replenish the lack of moisture. When layering skincare products, please keep it simple. Each product should be potent. So, there's no need to use more than three or four products. Give our serum RxESCUESKIN a try, risk-free for 30 days!
