How Do I Hydrate?
Let me count the ways. Hydrating doesn't have to be monotonous or boring. Some people want to drink something with flavor. Here are some ideas on how to stay hydrated in more ways than a glass of water.
Spa Water.
Add your own favorite fruits or vegetables to your water in a mason jar. Keep it in the fridge. It's packed with nutrients and flavor! No added sugars. The perfect healthy way to hydrate for a spa-like experience at home.
Avoid sugary drinks.
This includes some of our most loved drinks, such as boba or soft drinks, even some juices with added sugars. Unfortunately, most of these drinks are processed and filled with dehydrating ingredients. They may taste delicious, but when the heat hits us, we'll feel the thirst 10x more!
Add a lemon or lime.
Sometimes, that's all it takes to add a punch. Make sure the lemon or lime is given separately as they're usually kept by the bar area, in the open. Not the cleanest place! At least you'll be able to wipe the skin before dipping it into your water. That's an insider tip from servers at restaurants. If you didn't know, now you know!
Smoothies.
These are a great way to hydrate! They're tasty, nutritious, and will keep you hydrated for hours with electrolytes.
Frozen fruit, vegetables, or herbs.
You can either freeze juice or pieces of fruit or veggies and add them to your water. Voilà! You have a cold, flavored hydrating treat.
Add Mint, Thyme, Lavender, or Favorite Herb.
This is something that some of us forget as a possibility. It gives water a nice zest, especially if there's already some fruit in it.
Oatmeal.
Surprisingly, oatmeal is quite the hydrator, especially if soaked overnight. You can use milk or water while adding fruits. The combination gives you a full belly and holds plenty of water to start your day.
Say No to Sparkling Water.
Sparkling water (no matter the type) is thought to be a great alternative to soda but, in reality, it's not. Aside from the CO2 making the water acidic, can strip the tooth's enamel causing tooth sensitivity and weakening it. Also, it has been discovered that there are chemicals in many popular brands.
